What is the best way to treat and store the nets?

We are regularly asked how best to treat the cover materials/nets so that they can last as long as possible. For this purpose, we have the following tips for, in particular, the climate cloths, pigeon nets and insect screens that lie over the crop.

During the growing season:

  • Lay the nets loosely over the crop so that it can grow with the crop
  • Always secure the nets properly using ground pegs or sandbags
  • Never walk across the canvases or nets
  • Do not let the edges of the nets grow into the weeds
  • Keep sufficient distance with the tractor

After the harvest:

  • Make sure the nets are clean and dry
  • First assemble the nets in width and then roll them up as quickly and compactly as possible (possibly with the help of a retractor)
  • Label the nets with the size and condition of the net

In winter:

  • Store the nets, preferably indoors. If that is not possible, stack outside, separate from the ground and covered with a tarp against rain and sun.
  • Be careful with rodents, a single hole is enough to destroy an entire canvas or net
  • During the winter, inventory the stock related to the new season. Not enough? Order in time.
